Carmichael UK is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Quality Engineer to join a major infrastructure redevelopment project at Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to one of the UK s most high-profile defence programmes.
As a Supply Chain Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring supply chain partners deliver works to the highest standards. You ll be responsible for supplier assessments, auditing, inspections, and ensuring compliance with robust Quality Management Systems (QMS). Acting as a vital link between the supply chain and the client, you will help drive a strong culture of quality and continuous improvement.
Assess and audit supply chain organisations
Review supply chain Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
Liaise with the client on inspections, testing, and surveillance activities
Conduct quality inspections, surveillances, and witness testing
Support investigations into quality issues and help resolve them
Deliver quality training modules to supply chain staff
Carry out supplier factory/facility visits to monitor performance
Produce surveillance reports and track supplier performance
Support implementation of QMS, supply chain quality plans, and KPIs
Monitor NCRs, CARs, and quality improvement initiatives
Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering, Construction, or Quality-related field
Experience in auditing, inspections, and supplier visits
Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems and ITPs
CSCS White PQP/AQP card holder
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Location: Plymouth Devonport Royal Dockyard
Hours: 42.5 hours per week (08 00) - on site
Clearance: BPSS security clearance is required (can take up to 8 weeks)
Eligibility: Candidates must hold a passport from an EU, NATO, Five Eyes, or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years
