We have a fantastic opportunity for a Support Worker to join the Substance Misuse team at HMP Kirkham, a Category D open prison for males, located near Preston, Lancashire. The role is part of a team that never has two days the same, making it challenging, rewarding and supportive.

Job Summary

Title: Support Worker – Substance Misuse
Location: HMP Kirkham
Hours: Part‑time, 22.5 hours per week, shifts between 8 am and 4 pm Monday‑Friday (flexible patterns can be discussed during interview)
Salary: £25,557 – £29,723 per annum full‑time equivalent, dependent on experience
How we support you: Bespoke induction, Introducing Health in Justice training, competency framework, regional and national career development, bespoke Learning Management System, etc.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Act as the face of the team – first point of contact for patients.
  • Remain visible onsite, get to know patients and identify areas for improvement or issues.
  • Assist with support groups and assessments – including psychosocial, CBT, art workshops and meditation.
  • Enter data, ensuring patient records are accurate and up to date.
  • Work alongside the Nursing Associate and Patient Engagement Lead.
