Job Details
  • Job Title: Substance Misuse Nurse
  • Location: Liverpool
  • Employment Type: Contract (approx. 1 month with potential extension)
  • Pay Rate: £35 Ltd per hour
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Start Date: Immediate
Responsibilities
  • Conducting physical and mental health assessments and facilitating appropriate referrals to primary or secondary healthcare services.
  • Completing alcohol assessments in line with Alcohol Policy to determine safe detoxification requirements.
  • Assisting with opioid titration to achieve optimal Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) dosing, liaising with team members and community pharmacists.
  • Providing education on health promotion and screening for blood-borne viruses (BBVs), including Hepatitis A/B vaccinations.
  • Working within integrated care pathways for individuals infected with BBVs (Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV).
  • Undertaking community alcohol and opioid detoxification at the service or in the service user’s home.
  • Performing phlebotomy, interpreting blood results, and using findings to guide treatment decisions and referrals.
  • Referring patients for specialist inpatient services when necessary and liaising closely with hospital teams.
