Structural Design Engineer

Location: Glasgow

About the Role

A growing engineering consultancy is looking for an experienced Structural Design Engineer to join their structural team in Glasgow. The successful candidate will carry out structural analysis and design for a variety of building and civil engineering projects.

Responsibilities
  • Producing high‑quality structural designs and calculations using various materials (concrete, steel, masonry, timber)
  • Using structural design software to generate drawings, reports and technical documentation
  • Coordinating design input with other disciplines (e.g. architectural, civil) and with construction teams
  • Ensuring designs comply with UK design codes, standards and relevant regulations
  • Working to deliver projects on time and within budget, managing multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Being involved in the full project delivery process, including contract considerations (e.g. NEC)
  • Engaging in continuous professional development and working toward chartership status (ICE or IStructE)
Qualifications
  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a design office or consultancy environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK design codes and standards
  • Proficiency with structural design software (examples: CADS, Tekla, SCIA, STRAP, TEDDS, Fastrack, AutoCAD, Revit or similar)
  • Solid IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project etc.
  • Strong communication skills (written & verbal) and able to liaise with clients and internal/external teams
  • Ability to manage workloads, meet tight deadlines, adapt to change and think proactively
