The primary function of Procurement is to economically and efficiently purchase goods and services commensurate with AbbVie policies and objectives while adhering to strict standards of business ethics and integrity.
A role for a Procurement Manager with focus on Sales & Marketing and Professional Services has been created to focus on the Allergan Aesthetics business, part of AbbVie. The focus will include the UK affiliate and the IMCO (International) businesses located in Marlow and other International Affiliates as required.
You will support engagement of Senior Marketing Stakeholders, cross‑functional teams, and Senior Business Managers to deliver value and cost‑optimization opportunities, capturing cost savings/reductions and improving financial and operational performance of all service providers across a fast‑paced international business.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for sourcing, bidding, negotiating, contracting and purchasing goods and services in alignment with agreed category and business strategies. Execute the competitive bidding process in accordance with the Organizations Purchasing Policy.
- Co‑creation and execution of category strategy within assigned remit as defined by Category Managers and local business needs. Develop and maintain a supply base that ensures the best value for quality delivery, pricing, service, etc. Include oversight of all new vendor requests in alignment with preferred supplier networks and relevant category strategy.
- Proactively analyze and seek value/savings opportunities across spend categories.
- Develop, implement and maintain a preferred supplier network aligned to global category strategies to ensure best value for service, quality, business understanding, pricing, innovation and support driving spend to these suppliers.
- Maintain compliance with procurement policy and fulfill business requirements of supplier diversity and sustainability, executing tactical processes to create value.
- Proactive management of local preferred suppliers including anticipation, resolution and communication.
- Drive supplier management and ensure alignment to SRM strategy as determined by Procurement Lead and Category Managers, fostering a collaborative and innovative approach to supplier interactions.
- Maintain excellence in all contract execution activities including source‑to‑contract and requisition‑to‑pay, owning the implementation of strategies to identify inefficiencies in process design and execution.
- Support continuous improvement projects embracing and furthering a spirit of adaptability and innovation in procurement.
- Develop and maintain key relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels, operating in a business partner manner to drive procurement engagement across all areas of the business. Demonstrate value creation and cost‑saving opportunities without compromising on quality.
- Develop and maintain external supplier relationships with key supplier personnel to build a mutually beneficial relationship, including fostering innovation and efficiencies for all parties.
- Ensure effective transition from current practices to any new model, including migration to e‑sourcing & e‑Procurement systems, tools, processes, and guidelines.
- Demonstrate knowledge of external guidelines and regulations to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
- Ability to provide strategic insight and operational/tactical expertise in implementing procurement processes, including source‑to‑contract planning and cost assessment, to make informed procurement decisions.
- Strong experience in the respective category areas with familiarity tailoring processes to meet category needs.
- Demonstrate experience gained in a sourcing environment with exposure to Indirect Procurement on an international basis.
- Ability to manage the bidding and negotiation processes with adept ability to implement complex long‑term projects with a focus on creating effective supplier relationships.
- Strong capacity and experience managing collaborative supplier relationships, aligning procurement activities with business needs while driving cost optimisation and added value opportunities.
- Innovative problem‑solving skills combined with a solution‑oriented mindset enabling creative approaches and influential communication at all organisational levels.
- High cross‑functional collaboration abilities and teamwork skills effectively navigating and coordinating diverse team dynamics.

Minimum Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably in Business Supply Chain or other relevant field.
- 5 years in pharma procurement, preferably with consulting background.
- Previous experience and comprehensive understanding of procurement operations.
- Strong analytical problem‑solving and leadership skills.
- Good understanding of best‑in‑class sourcing management processes and techniques. Knowledge of e‑Purchasing tools (e.g. Ariba, SAP etc).
- Excellent business / financial acumen, ability to identify business opportunities and prepare business case proposals.
- Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
