Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a commercially minded Financial Controller in Hay Mills. The role involves taking ownership of the finance function, preparing monthly management accounts, and improving financial strategies. Ideal candidates will possess a degree in Finance or Accounting, relevant professional qualifications, and strong Excel skills. Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance or Accounting with a recognised professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Hands-on financial management experience.
  • Proven ability to present complex financial information to senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare complete and timely monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Produce annual budgets and quarterly forecasts including detailed variance analysis.
  • Analyse sales, production, and purchasing processes for performance improvement.
  • Conduct monthly stock movement analysis and lead year-end stocktakes.
  • Support and challenge departmental managers on financial performance.
  • Monitor and review sales performance by product line/area.
  • Develop and report on KPIs to drive business efficiency.
  • Complete quarterly VAT reconciliations and payroll reconciliations.
  • Assist with year-end accounts and liaise with external auditors.
  • Manage ad hoc projects and quarterly grant returns.

Skills

Full UK driving licence

Education

Degree in Finance or Accounting with a recognised professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
