About the Role

The Role: Strategic Engagement & Intelligence Lead EMEA Established Benchmarks

The Location: London, UK

The Team

Strategic Engagement & Intelligence Group, a part of Platts (MRTS) cross‑commodity Market Development & Engagement Group (MD&E), is looking for a team member in London to facilitate market engagement activities across the EMEA region for Established Benchmarks. The lead will be responsible for leading development of engagement plans as well as ensuring execution of regional engagement activities. They will lead external engagement with a focus on gathering intelligence supporting our pricing initiatives and content development, engaging key decision makers in related sectors, and helping develop engagement strategy in the region. They will have the opportunity to speak at external events, represent key commodity lines for Platts at key meetings, and work on special projects as needed by the commodity pricing teams and in collaboration with other MD&E teams.

The Impact

The Established Benchmarks SEIG lead will be a critical role to elevate Platts visibility in the EMEA commodity markets, drive further market and methodology development globally, and educate markets on the importance and relevance of physical benchmarks. The role also ensures regular outreach to key market participants prioritized each year in our engagement benchmark scorecards. It will involve cross‑commodity projects such as alternative marine fuels.

  • Lead meetings and presentations to mid‑senior and C‑suite managers of major companies, trading houses, industry associations and government officials.
  • Develop and lead our go‑to‑market engagement strategy for commodity pricing in Established Benchmarks for EMEA.
  • Develop strategic messaging for our EMEA engagements and distill and activate intelligence gathered during engagements.

Responsibilities
  • Lead engagement strategy planning with the regional and global teams.
  • Lead execution of the plan through the establishment of meetings and support of commercially requested meetings.
  • Learn details across the commodities portfolio to present on various topics.
  • Collaborate with content‑commercial on the Value Add program.
  • Drive best practice for Market Engagement, including development of high‑quality presentation content and meeting notes, demonstrating strong presentation and meeting communication skills, and demonstrating strong planning skills.
  • Participate and collaborate in methodology planning and development in the region.
  • Contribute to social media content development (blogs, podcasts, webinars).
What We're Looking For
  • Solid understanding of EMEA and global commodities markets.
  • Experience in price formation and methodology in those markets.
  • Previous experience in engaging clients or sources in markets.
  • Foundational experience with leadership and influencing skills.
  • Excellent planning and time‑management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, including public speaking experience, good listening skills, and strong written and oral capabilities.
  • Critical‑thinking capabilities.
  • Multilingual capabilities a plus.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30‑40% of the time.
Basic Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree.
  • Market‑price experience with a good understanding of trade flows and workings of global commodities markets.
