JOB BAND: B

CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent, Full-time

DEPARTMENT: Scotland Business Operations

LOCATION: Office Based, Pacific Quay, Glasgow

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £25,700- £30,233 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

This role is advertised as part of our BBC Extend programme for disabled people. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Are you highly organised, safety‑conscious, and great at working across teams? We’re looking for an Operations Stores Supervisor to manage equipment allocation and ensure smooth operations across our sites.

In this role, you’ll play a vital part in our operations, collaborating closely with technical teams. You’ll be responsible for end‑to‑end equipment management, including safe loading/unloading and delivery of broadcast kit, inventory control, and maintaining a safe, organised logistics environment.

Operating in a fast‑paced setting, this role demands attention to detail, strong teamwork, and a flexible, solutions‑focused approach.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise and manage broadcast equipment and the use of our fleet vehicles, ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Serve as the main Stores contact for teams and productions, handling in‑person, e‑mail and phone enquiries.
  • Transport equipment across Scotland, including collections and deliveries.
  • Handle manual handling such as loading and transportation of kit; training and reasonable adjustments are provided where needed.
  • Assist operational crews with rigging of equipment when required.
  • Resolve equipment shortages and implement effective inventory and stock‑taking systems.
  • Maintain compliance with BBC policies, safety standards, and risk assessments.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in a similar role within a fast‑paced environment, ensuring efficiency and accuracy under pressure.
  • Proven ability to manage resources, solve problems quickly, and make informed decisions accurately; adaptable to shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational and teamwork skills; confident in building relationships and negotiating effectively with suppliers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; a commitment to learning new systems and contributing to project‑based initiatives.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and risk management practices.
DESIRABLE
  • Knowledge of Outside Broadcast (OB) equipment and a desire to expand technical expertise.
  • Supervisory experience that demonstrates initiative, flexibility, and effective team leadership.
  • Experience with inventory systems, tracking equipment and ensuring accurate stock records; proactive approach to process improvements and new systems.
  • Current licence to drive vehicles, for kit collections and deliveries.
