Job description
Staff Nurse – Florence Nightingale Ward

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate nurse to join our ward team, working alongside the Ward Manager and multi-disciplinary colleagues to uphold the highest standards of nursing care, patient safety, and staff development.

Following your preceptorship, you will take on full responsibility for delivering all aspects of patient care without direct supervision. You will also play an active role in supporting others — demonstrating procedures, supervising unregistered or adaptation staff, and helping to create a safe, supportive, and effective working environment.

Flexibility is key to this role, and you will be expected to provide cover across designated clinical areas when required, ensuring continuity of high-quality care.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills, contribute to a dynamic ward environment, and make a real difference to the lives of patients and their families.

To provide and maintain the highest possible standard of nursing care.

To develop and maintain good ward management and organisational skills.

To assist with the provision of an environment conducive to the education of staff.

Giving and receiving patient centred handovers.

Assessing, developing and implementing patient care plan and evaluating care given, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.

To ensure all drug administration is in accordance with legal and Trust directorate policies and procedures.

Assisting with safe custody, storage and control of all drugs at ward level.

To ensure the discharge planning process starts on admission, to prevent delays and make good utilisation of ward beds.

Liaise with consultants and members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure patients are triaged to the appropriate area.

Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.
