Are you seeking a nursing role within mental health?

At the CAMHS PICU, the nursing team is central to delivering high-quality inpatient care, and we are recruiting full- and part-time Staff Nurses to join the Meadow Unit.

You will work within a skilled multidisciplinary team to provide safe, well-planned, and compassionate care. We support nurses at every stage of their career--whether you are newly qualified and developing core mental health skills or an experienced practitioner seeking new challenges. Nurses from all fields, including mental health, learning disability, and paediatrics, are welcomed to ensure holistic care for young people.

You will be guided in building therapeutic relationships with young people and their families, and training will be provided to develop both individual and group therapeutic skills. We are committed to nurturing nurses to deliver thoughtful, responsive care when it is needed most.

Leadership development is also encouraged, with support to build confidence in shift management, team coordination, and supervising junior staff. Reflection is integral to our practice, and the Meadow Unit offers a structured weekly programme of reflective spaces to provide ongoing supervision, support, and professional development.

Main duties of the job

All nurses at the CAMHS PICU will be encouraged to develop areas of specialist interest and be provided with many opportunities for research. You will be motivated and dynamic about service improvement and passionate about providing quality and creative care to adolescents.

  • Providing consistent and robust round the clock inpatient care is vital.
  • Engage proactively with young persons and their families/carers/significant others to build positive working relationships.
  • Make a systematic and comprehensive assessment/ re-assessment of patient need within the CPA framework to take account of all aspects of the young persons life
  • Develop effective risk management plans, and timely review of the risk management plan identifying opportunities for positive risk taking in conjunction with the patient, carers/significant others and the ward team.
  • Actively engages with the Care Coordinator under CPA to identify appropriate resources to support the young persons care package within the hospital setting and within their local home environment
  • Co-ordinate and implement plans of care during the young persons journey through the inpatient environment and demonstrate clear written communication to support such plansWork with young persons and their families/carers/significant others on symptom management and relapse prevention
