Sr. Manager, Software Development and Architecture to lead agile development teams for our payments client

Location : Toronto (Etobicoke) - 2 Days / week Hybrid
We are looking for a Senior Manager, Software Development and Architecture with an understanding of the payments industry to lead Agile teams that develop and maintain our client's Digital Onboarding, Digital Support and Telephony platforms. You will collaborate with other teams and departments, identifying and realizing opportunities to share technology subject‑matter expertise and best practices.
Reporting Relationship : You will report to Vice President, Enterprise Platforms.
Responsibilities
- In this new role, the Manager of Software Development will build a team of Agile developers.
- Collaborate with product owners, engineering teams, and other partners to understand our requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Establish and enforce architectural standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency, scalability, and maintainability across our software products.
- Guide the evolution of our software architecture to meet our needs, incorporating best practices, emerging technologies, and industry trends.
- Maintain productive relationships with other departments / leaders and conduct platform and roadmap reviews with leadership and steering committee teams.
- Develop and sponsor strategies, project proposals and solutions related to the functional area and guide execution through the organization.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to software architects and developers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews, and performance evaluations to ensure adherence to architectural principles and quality standards.
- Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade‑offs, balancing our requirements, technical constraints and internal and external regulatory compliance.
- Build and oversee the business support and documentation functions for managed platforms. Provide leadership support to major RFPs and customer initiatives.
- Develop platform leaders and senior analysis / design professionals. Guide and mentors managers or senior professionals outside of the team.
- Lead the direction, functional design and user experience of enterprise solutions; ensure that the functional design meets partner and organizational needs.
- Manage multiple parallel streams of work; oversee the release schedules and platform feature backlog; support programs by ensuring predictable deliveries to our company, planning minimizing design and schedule risks.
Must Haves
- Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of experience working in a software development / architecture role
- 4+ yrs of experience managing and / or leading technical teams
- Experience leading Agile teams
- Technical experience in one or more of the following vendor solutions (considered an asset)
- Ada (AI powered customer service)
- Five9 (Contact Center)
- KMS Lighthouse (Enterprise Knowledge Management)
- Expertise in working in software development, business intelligence environments, and data architecture environments along with solving problems without precedence and high accountability
- Experience in partner management at higher levels
- Experience promoting proposals to garner support and investment from senior management.
