Smile Education’s Specialist SEN Team are delighted to be supporting a specialist school in Sandwell in their search for a committed and enthusiastic Sports Coach. This full‑time position begins in January and will run until at least Easter, with the potential for extension. The school supports pupils aged 7–19 with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and a range of additional needs. They provide a broad and balanced curriculum designed around individual learning needs, guided by their core values of Safe, Happy and Learning Together.

  • Support and lead sports sessions for students with MLD and additional needs
  • Deliver inclusive, engaging, and differentiated sports activities
  • Promote physical wellbeing, confidence, and teamwork
  • Become an active and collaborative member of the school community
The Ideal Candidate Will
  • ✔ Hold a relevant degree (Sports Coaching, Sports Science, Physical Education, or similar)
  • ✔ Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within SEN or MLD settings
  • ✔ Be confident adapting and differentiating sports activities for a range of abilities
  • ✔ Create a positive, safe, supportive, and motivating environment
  • ✔ Embrace the school’s ethos of Safe, Happy and Learning Together
  • ✔ Commit fully to a full‑time role and engage in all aspects of school life
  • ✔ Be a strong, proactive team player with excellent communication skills
  • ✔ Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply through Smile
  • ✔ Provide two references covering the past two years, including comments on your work with children
