Speech & Language Therapist – Term-Time (2 Days per Week)
Contract: Permanent (may consider locum)
Hours: 2 days / 14.8 hours per week, term-time only

Job Description An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Speech & Language Therapist to join an independent specialist day school based in West Kent, specialist education setting supporting children and young people with complex needs. This role is term-time only, working two days per week. You will offer individualised interventions and engagement to pupils with a range of complex educational needs, communication difficulties, and challenging behaviours.

Main Duties

  • Undertake comprehensive speech and language therapy assessments for children and young people with diverse and complex needs.
  • Develop and deliver individualised therapy plans based on clinical formulation and evidence-based practice.
  • Provide specialist advice, training, and support to education and residential staff to ensure therapeutic approaches are embedded in daily practice.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to promote effective communication, engagement, and learning outcomes.
  • Contribute to EHCP processes, progress reviews, and multi-agency meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with professional standards.
  • Support the development of communication-friendly environments and resources across the setting.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registration and membership of RCSLT.
  • Experience of working with children and young people with complex communication needs, autism, and/or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based interventions and experience of delivering individual and group therapy.
  • Enhanced DBS (assistance can be provided).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
