Speech and Language Therapist

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in‑house clinical team at Bankside College School. Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver bespoke assessments and interventions to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent, or have SEMH needs, within the standards provided by the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils. • Hold and manage a therapy caseload with support from your designated clinical supervisor and site lead. • Contribute to staff training and consultation as required. • Maintain a person‑centred, empowering approach within a strong safeguarding culture. • Document and report in line with governing and professional bodies.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy (BSc (Hons)).
• HCPC registered and a fully registered member of the RCSLT.
• 1‑2 years experience in a similar setting, with engagement of individuals presenting with complex communication profiles.
• Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice.
• Experience of multi‑disciplinary working and communicating with families, relatives and carers.
• Good relationship‑building, analytical and judgemental skills.
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and time‑management and organisational skills.
• Competence in core areas of SaLT practice and clear understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
• Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, intervention types and how to formulate support plans.
• Understanding of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management.
• Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.

Desirable Qualifications

• Understanding of sensory and motor differences affecting communication.
• Evidence of knowledge about the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
• Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications relevant to the client group.

Salary and Contract

Salary: 33,000 pro‑rata (dependent on experience). Basic grade SALT offers from 33,000+, Specialist from 39,500+, Highly specialist from 48,000+. Hours: 15 hours per week (flexible on which 2 days are selected). Contract: Permanent.
