Job Overview

This post would be ideally suited for a Specialty Doctor, who has a minimum of 2 years experience in clinical psychiatry practice, and is interested in working in a specialty doctor position in psychiatry outside of a Training position.

A successful candidate would have the option of continuing ongoing work in a specialty doctor position, or considering the option of applying for Specialty Training in Psychiatry in the future.

An alternative career path would be progression as a specialty doctor and with the possibility of gaining a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) via Article 14 route once required experience can be evidenced in the future.

The post-holder will work under the supervision of a consultant psychiatrist and will be integral to a multidisciplinary team, accessing local CPD activities as appropriate.

Duties
  • The specialty doctor will work closely with the consultant psychiatrist and multidisciplinary team, and will provide clinical support for the assessment and management of mental health problems on a routine and emergency basis.
  • On average 10 programmed activities per week will be devoted to direct clinical care, caring for patients in the community in the Luton CMHT area, in the functional model.
