Specialty Doctor - Emergency & Urgent Care

One of our clients has a new position available for a Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine. The successful candidate should be highly motivated and willing to join their team to share the vast improvements achieved in their emergency department.

Clinically, the post holder will be expected to see and manage patients in all areas of the department, including majors, resus, the urgent care centre, the clinical decision unit, and pediatrics. This offers the opportunity to gain experience with a wide and varied cohort of patients.

The post holder will also be required to supervise more junior doctors, providing clinical advice and assisting with managing overall patient flow within the department in adherence to the national 4-hour target.

The successful candidate will work with other doctors on the rota to provide 24-hour care, seven days a week. The Trust also offers weekly middle-grade teaching.

In return, the candidate is expected to have:

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council
  • Completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent), with at least two years in a specialty training program in Emergency Medicine or equivalent experience and competencies
  • Familiarity with and demonstration of an understanding and experience of the major principles of the GMC's Good Medical Practice
  • Completion of F2 competency or equivalent experience, or at least 2 years post-qualification clinical experience
  • At least two years or more working in Emergency Medicine
  • Experience working at registrar level in an Emergency Department
  • Up-to-date ATLS, APLS, ALS
