Seeking Resilient and Experienced Support Staff for Specialist Settings in Bury.

We are actively recruiting Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Mentors, and Behaviour Support Mentors to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across the Bury area of Greater Manchester. If you are experienced in complex behaviour support, this 5-day-a-week opportunity is for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using established techniques and intervention strategies.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with complex SEMH and behavioural needs, helping them access the curriculum.
  • Assist the teaching staff in preparing resources and delivering tailored learning activities.
  • Help maintain a structured, safe, and positive learning environment.
  • Accurately record and report on student progress, behaviour incidents, and achievement data.

The Ideal Candidate Must:

  • Possess crucial, proven expertise in behaviour management and the ability to confidently cope with complex behaviour needs.
  • Have a minimum of 6 months of UK experience.
  • Demonstrate previous experience in either:
    • 2 or more SEMH, PRU, or Alternative Provision settings.
    • Or, more than 2 years of continuous experience working in a PRU/SEMH setting.
  • Be reliable, highly committed to career development, and genuinely attentive and engaged with both students and staff.
  • Be available to work 5 days a week.
  • Ideally hold a Level 2+ UK Teaching Assistant qualification.

Essential Requirements:

  • A full UK Driving Licence and access to a car (essential for accessing local settings).
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
