Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Cambridge is seeking an experienced Specialist Support Nurse to work in the surgical Gynaecological Oncology team. Responsibilities include providing advocacy for women with gynaecological cancer, managing complex wound care, and delivering education and training. The ideal candidate will have at least 12 months of Band 6 experience in gynaecology or oncology, with excellent communication skills. Applications are open until 1 January 2026.

Qualifications

  • At least 12 months Band 6 experience within gynaecology and/or oncology.
  • Potential to learn either Colposcopy or Hysteroscopy after 12 months.
  • Previous specialist nurse experience in gynaecology or oncology, or accreditation in Colposcopy or Hysteroscopy.

Specialist Support Nurse (Band 6) / Clinical Nurse Specialist – Gynecology Oncology

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced specialist nurse to work within the surgical Gynaecological Oncology team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide patient advocacy and specialist support for women with gynaecological cancer, both in person and via telephone.
  • Manage complex wound care and assess anxieties related to sexuality and body image.
  • Attend specialist and local MDT meetings, communicate outcomes to patients and the wider multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Implement specialist nursing care programmes and undertake specialist nursing procedures.
  • Deliver specialist education and training to other staff and students.
  • Support research and clinical audits within the specialist area.
Qualifications
  • At least 12 months Band 6 experience within gynaecology and/or oncology.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to patient‑centred care.
  • After 12 months, potential to learn either Colposcopy or Hysteroscopy; successful training increases band to Band 7.
  • Previous specialist nurse experience in gynaecology or oncology, or accreditation in Colposcopy or Hysteroscopy, considered for recruitment into the Band 7 position.
