Job description
Overview

This post will enable the successful post-holder to develop their skills across 3 caseloads: Neuro Rehabilitation Team; Early supported discharge for Stroke; Community SLT (non-neuro).

Responsibilities
  • Provide a speech and language therapy service to adults with communication and swallowing difficulties.
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat individuals with dysphagia; manage specialist caseloads including those with complex needs.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team (Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Neuropsychologists, Specialist Nursing, Rehabilitation Assistants) to manage neurological and non-neurological conditions (e.g., Stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, Motor Neurone Disease, Dementia, COPD).
  • Refer, attend, and develop competency in videofluoroscopy and FEES; independently carry out videofluoroscopy where available.
  • Facilitate communication groups and deliver innovative rehabilitation programmes (e.g., ICAP, EMST, sEMG).
  • Travel around the Borough of Greenwich independently and work flexibly in the person’s place of residence, day centre, workplace, or clinic; some groups in clinic settings.
  • Supervise therapy assistant practitioners and Speech & Language Therapy students; supervise band 5 SLTs if required.
  • Support appraisal, development and supervision of junior staff and students; participate in supervision structures and professional development.

Team, Environment and Organisation

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Neuropsychologists, Specialist Nursing and Rehabilitation Assistants, managing people with neurological and non-neurological conditions such as Stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, Motor Neurone Disease, Dementia and COPD.

Location and Travel

The team provides a service to the person in the place most suited to their current need (home, day centre, work, clinic). Travel around the Borough of Greenwich independently is required.
