Specialist Paediatric Dietitian

An exciting vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic and well‑motivated Paediatric Dietitian to join our team of dietitians within the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay. Barrow in Furness is on the South Cumbrian coast within easy reach of the Lake District National Park and offers a wide variety of leisure activities for a positive work life balance.

The successful applicant will work alongside an experienced multi‑disciplinary team of Paediatricians, Nurses, Dietitians and Therapists who are responsible for providing a service across social and health care boundaries.

The department is approved for training student dietitians. You will also provide support to junior and support staff within the wider Dietetic team. You will use your knowledge and skills to support the learning and development of MDT colleagues and contribute towards updating protocols and resources. We have excellent IT facilities and are committed to personal development.

The ideal candidate will have had previous experience working in paediatrics. Opportunities for extending your skills will be supported where appropriate.

Applicants should be HCPC registered dietitians. The post is based at Furness General Hospital and will require you to travel to other sites and clinic locations.

Main duties of the job

The post will cover both inpatient and outpatient work and you will gain experience in a wide range of clinical areas including nutrition support, enteral feeding, gastroenterology, food allergies and feeding problems.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals—Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal—alongside a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various consultant‑led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non‑life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Job responsibilities
