Specialist Paediatric Audiologist (XR07)

Thisjob is for an experienced B7 Paediatric Audiologist within the Hearing andBalance Service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. We are committed to providingthe highest quality care for its patients whilst embodying the core values ofthe Leeds Way.

Basedin a newly developed department at Seacroft Hospital just outside Leeds CityCentre the Hearing and Balance Service provides modern facilities and acomprehensive range of services, across multiple sites for patients of allages including implantable devices and vestibular assessments. Due to therange of services provided, opportunities exist for training and developmentinto specialist areas and staff can be supported through the Higher TrainingScheme.

TheHearing and Balance Service offers an open and inclusive culture for itsstaff, valuing the input from the whole team to help guide and shape thedelivery of the service.

Main duties of the job

Thepost holder will work within a multidisciplinary team across multiple sitesto provide a comprehensive paediatric diagnostic and habilitation service forchildren & their families with hearing difficulties. The paediatric teamwork as autonomous practioners within the service and are to be able todevelop, lead improvements, maximising the benefit for patients. You will beperforming a wide range of diagnostic testing on all patient groups, inaddition to providing highly effective habilitation and on-going maintenancecare plans for patients with complex hearing losses, tinnitus, patients withBone Anchored Hearing Aids, ENT patients and Oncology patients. There isscope to support the department in many exciting initiatives and develop theservice with continuous improvement cycles. The department are also workingtowards IQIPs accreditation

Job responsibilities

Thepost holder will work in a leadership role managing the day to day deliveryof specific aspects of a Paediatric Audiology Service. To provide a comprehensive paediatricaudiology service. They will demonstrate leadership to ensure staff areworking to national standards, ensure current practice is evidence based andensure there is quality within the service. The role will require leadershipon a specific area of complex paediatric audiology and day to day operationalmanagement of this area. They will offer support for more junior staff andthose training and deputise in the absence of the Head(s) of Service. Liaising and co-operating with other TeamLeaders to ensure that the day to day operations of the service as a whole,are delivered as smoothly and as efficiently as possible. They will ensurethe service improvements are made in an evidenced based manner, developstaff, conduct clinical audits and support IQIPs accreditation.

Qualifications
  • BSc (Hons) Audiology from an accredited University OR - Equivalent qualifications (until 2005
  • Be registered with an appropriate registration body.
  • Evidence of learning from other professionally appropriate sources, supervisory experience.
  • Evidence of CPD. Evidence of reflective practice
  • Any relevant additional knowledge/skills, pertinent to the post applied for
  • Evidence of learning from relevant professional courses/seminars.
  • MSc in Audiology or equivalent.
  • Trainers/Assessors award
Experience
  • Be able to lead and perform a comprehensive range of paediatric diagnostic assessments.
  • Paediatric hearing aid fittings and verifications
  • Micro budgetary management & / or administration.
  • Supervision of staff.
  • Evidence of contribution to project management experience.
  • Responsibilities for relevant issues outside the NHS.
  • Evidence of contribution to research/audit.
