Job Summary

Base: Cygnet Hospital Sherwood, Rufford Colliery Lane, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, NG21 0HR. Are you a Band 5 ready for your next challenge or an emerging Band 6 looking for a change? Would you like to explore a more rewarding clinical and managerial challenge? This could be your perfect opportunity.

We want to recruit an exceptional OT to be part of a senior management team at Cygnet Sherwood Hospital. If you have a history of demonstrating clinical expertise and strong leadership skills, with a passion for developing others this could be an opportunity for you.

The unit will open in February 2024 and will consist of three wards: a male PICU, a male acute mental health ward and a female acute mental health ward. The new forward‑thinking hospital will embrace innovation and new ways of working, and we are looking for staff who share our passion for new ideas and are willing to drive sustained high quality care delivery as part of a supportive team.

As part of the multidisciplinary team, you will work as an autonomous clinician, providing specialist assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction, hold supervisory responsibility for others, and take a leadership role in specific projects. You will support student education within the team and help implement models of care within the Occupational Therapy department.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction for patients in the male PICU and acute mental health wards.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff and students.
  • Lead and contribute to specific projects designed to improve clinical practice and service delivery.
  • Support the Head of Occupational Therapy in implementing department models of care.
  • Participate in service model development and contribute to evidence‑based practice.
  • Engage in a robust appraisal and supervision structure based on the RCOT Career Development Framework.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Band 5 experience or emerging Band 6 with a record of clinical expertise and leadership.
  • Strong commitment to developing others and improving patient outcomes.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team in a mental health or acute setting is desirable.
