Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: £27,414 to £28,233 per annum. Plus generous benefits, including:

Are you passionate about supporting students with medical conditions to thrive in education?

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Specialist Learning Support Practitioner to join our Additional Learning Support team. In this vital role, you will provide tailored academic and pastoral support to students whose medical conditions impact their ability to access learning.

  • Deliver one-to-one and small group support to students with chronic illnesses, disabilities, or mental health conditions
  • Facilitate the creation and distribution of Medical Plans for where necessary
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and teaching staff to develop and implement individualised care and learning plans
  • Monitor students’ health and wellbeing, ensuring timely interventions and adjustments to support their academic success
  • Oversee the safe and dignity of learner requiring personal care and manual handling interventions
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that empowers students to manage their conditions and achieve their goals.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on medical conditions and appropriate accommodations.

You are a compassionate and proactive professional with:

  • Experience supporting students with medical conditions in educational or care settings, including collaboration with healthcare professionals and families.
  • Qualifications such as a relevant SEN, healthcare, or education qualification. First aid certification and safeguarding training are essential.
  • Skills in developing support plans, managing medical emergencies, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Attributes including empathy, resilience, confidentiality, and a commitment to inclusive education.

We are a large, regional college serving a population across York and North Yorkshire of more than one million people. Each year, we have approximately 4,000 school leavers, 1,000 apprentices, 2,000 adult students, and 400 higher-level students studying with us.
