Job description
Role Summary

Our specialist band 6 oncology dietitian will work within UHBW’s Cancer Transformation (CTF) service. The post is based at the Bristol Royal Infirmary and is part of a 6‑person dietitian team that serves patients across Bristol and Weston sites.

  • Provide expert dietetic advice through outpatient services, treating patients with a range of cancer sites and supporting them with face‑to‑face and virtual clinic slots.
  • Collaborate with senior dietitians to develop the oncology pathway, support patient education and student training.
  • Deliver 22.5 contracted hours per week, spread over three days, with a rotating Saturday shift every eight weeks and one bank holiday per year.
  • Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team and community partners (pharmacists, GPs) to ensure continuity of care.
  • Use negotiation and holistic skills to motivate dietary change, applying a range of evaluation strategies and adapting communication techniques as required.
  • Educate, support and direct patients by advising on therapeutic dietary regimens that may involve significant and continuous lifestyle changes.
  • Translate complex nutritional concepts into practical everyday terms for patients, staff and professional colleagues of all levels.
  • Provide expert dietetic advice at case conferences, care and discharge planning meetings.
