Job description

This position includes working in Gastroenterology, Home Enteral Feeding and Nutrition Support.

We are looking for a candidate with the drive, enthusiasm and vision to contribute to our Specialist Community Dietetic Service, and liaising with other services within Community Healthcare.

• Provide a professional nutrition and dietetic service to gastroenterology and Nutrition Support patients and their families.
• Provide the service to both patients with a Hounslow GP and referred by primary, community and secondary care.
• See patients in a variety of community clinics and other venues across Hounslow Borough or in the patients’ own home where this is appropriate.
• Be responsible for the initial education and training of Coeliac patients referred and their follow up via Annual Review groups. The postholder will be assisted in this by other Community Dietitians.
• Provide FODMAP education to patients.
• Train Primary Care staff (GP’s, Practice Nurse etc.) in 1st line advice, the referral pathway and policies and procedures relating to Gastroenterology and Nutrition Support.
• Be competent in supervising dietetic students in accordance with their university’s standards.
• Have acquired professional knowledge through approved degree, postgraduate diploma training plus continuous professional development is essential. Continue to undergo dietetic training in specialist areas.
