We are recruiting a Special Needs School Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Essex. This Special Needs School Assistant role is based in Essex and is to work as a SEN Teaching Assistant, supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs while gaining valuable education and training.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, the Special Needs School Assistant will support children with autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs within a specialist setting in Essex. This role provides hands‑on experience and structured education and training, ideal for those passionate about supporting young people.

Day‑to‑day responsibilities:
  • Providing 1:1 support to pupils with SEN
  • Supporting small groups with learning activities
  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management
  • Adapting learning materials to meet individual needs
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Encouraging independence, communication, and social skills
  • Monitoring and recording pupil progress and wellbeing
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • Supporting pupils during transitions and unstructured times
