Solar PV Service Engineer

VIQU Energy is supporting a leading renewable energy organisation in their search for a Solar PV Service Engineer to join their growing operations and maintenance team. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in a field‑based environment, enjoys problem‑solving, and wants to contribute directly to the performance of large‑scale solar assets across the UK.

This position offers a mix of routine maintenance, technical fault‑finding, and travel to multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine maintenance, testing, and remedial work on deployed solar PV systems.
  • Complete all work in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance in line with the annual PPM schedule.
  • Carry out Corrective Maintenance as and when required.
  • Submit accurate daily activity reports using the online reporting system.
  • Undertake job‑specific risk assessments and report all near‑misses to management.
  • Supervise and coordinate third‑party contractors on site.
  • Ensure external contractors adhere to all H&S requirements.
  • Maintain precise electrical testing records suitable for audit.
  • Fault‑find and resolve issues across AC and DC systems.
  • Escalate any issues or concerns to the manager promptly.
  • Comply with all applicable fire, health, and safety requirements, including attending required training.
  • Occasional nights away when required.
  • Participate in weekend rota (with additional pay).
Skills & Experience Required
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in I&C or Utility‑scale solar.
  • Level 3 City & Guilds / NVQ in Electrical Installations.
  • Harness trained (desirable – training can be provided).
  • First Aid trained.
  • Fire Marshal certification.
  • IOSH H&S qualification (desirable – training can be provided).
  • Manufacturer training on central inverters.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance procedures and maintenance scheduling.
  • Knowledge of AC and DC systems (AC distribution boards, combiner boxes, automation panels, etc.).
  • Understanding of CCTV and SCADA systems.
  • Experienced using instruments such as multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, etc.
