Responsibilities and duties of the Solar Maintenance Engineer role

Reporting to the Hiring Manager you will:

  • Deliver mobile planned and reactive maintenance across a range of commercial solar PV sites
  • Carry out maintenance inspections, fault finding, repairs, upgrades, and installation works
  • Work on both single-phase and three-phase commercial rooftop solar PV systems
  • Communicate professionally with clients on site, responding to queries and providing clear updates
  • Identify, report, and log defects and remedial actions during service visits
  • Accurately complete all work-related documentation, including inspection reports and maintenance logs
  • Follow all health & safety procedures, permits to work, and safe systems of working
Professional qualifications
  • Proven experience in a solar PV maintenance or electrical maintenance role
  • Electrical qualifications such as a Level 3 Award, 18th Edition (or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of health & safety regulations, permit-to-work systems, and risk assessments
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to work away from home on occasions
Personal skills
  • Proactive, reliable, and motivated, with a strong work ethic
  • Comfortable working independently in a mobile role
  • Confident carrying out manual tasks, including working at height, manual handling, and confined spaces
  • Client-focused, with good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Organised and detail-oriented when completing documentation and reports
