Job summary

A leading engineering solutions firm in the United Kingdom is seeking a proactive C++ or C Software Engineer to join their Bristol facility on a full-time basis. This hands-on role involves designing and developing new software tools for next-generation Air Defence Systems, requiring proven skills in C/C++ and knowledge of safety standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in systems and real-time operating systems, plus a collaborative mindset to maintain momentum during development.

Qualifications

• Proven ability in C or C++ programming language.
• Knowledge of standards such as DefStan 00-55, DO-178C or IEC61508.
• Experience of working across the entire software development process.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new and evolving software tools.
• Work on product architectures and future product instantiations.
• Engage with requirement authorities and document the process.

Overview of department:

Our team, at our Bristol facility, develop solutions for the next generation of Air Defence Systems developing evolving products whilst maintaining our enviable reputation for safety, performance and dependability.

Skillset/Experience required:

Essential

• Knowledge of working work with Cameo/Rhapsody
• Proven ability in C or C++ programming language
• Knowledge of DDS middleware and Real Time Operating Systems
• Knowledge of standards such as DefStan 00-55, DO-178C or IEC61508

Desirable

• A strong background in software engineering, its realisation and system wide impact.
• Collaborative, open approach to development and have the ability to work well in a team and maintain momentum during development.
• Experience of working across the entire software development process from engaging with requirement authorities to automated target integration and proving, supported with effective documentation
• Experience of new tools, techniques and approaches that might enable us to evolve our processes to improve our efficiency and sustainability
• Experience in ontologies and Domain specific languages

Responsibilities:
