Role Purpose

To deliver high-quality fostering services by assessing, supervising, and supporting foster carers, ensuring safe, stable, and nurturing placements for children looked after. You will also play a pivotal role in the recruitment and retention of foster carers while working collaboratively with professionals across agencies.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct robust fostering assessments in line with Fostering Regulations and National Minimum Standards.

Offer regular supervision and support to foster carers to promote placement stability and timely resolution of concerns.

Deliver and support training sessions for foster carers, pre- and post-approval.

Collaborate with the placements team to ensure well-matched child-carer placements that safeguard and meet the child’s needs.

Monitor the ongoing safety and effectiveness of placements, raising safeguarding issues as needed.

Contribute to the annual review process for foster carers, assessing compliance and identifying areas for development.

Liaise effectively with social workers, education professionals, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to support.

Maintain accurate and timely records in compliance with GDPR and statutory guidance.

Qualified Social Worker (BA/MA/BSc in Social Work or equivalent).

Registered with Social Work England.

Demonstrable experience in children’s social care, preferably within fostering, LAC, or safeguarding teams.

Strong assessment and report-writing skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
