Job Title: Social Value Advisor

Location: Hampton / London

Thorn Baker's award-winning main contractor is looking for a Social Value Advisor to join their team. With over 15 years' experience, they excel in projects from £5m to £25m, including complex, fast-track refurbishment and new build projects in the education sector, as well as design and build projects across various sectors nationally.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Support the construction team by being the main link between the company and local communities, schools, colleges, and universities to ensure commitment to social value is evident.
  • Lead in managing contractual social value commitments, ensuring expectations are met and exceeded.
  • Manage, implement, and coordinate Local Employment Skills Plans (LESPs) to meet customer requirements.
  • Build relationships with external organizations to support local employment opportunities and skills development, minimizing environmental impact of travel.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in the main contracting market in London or surrounding boroughs, preferably in a similar role or with related training and skills background.
  • Experience in developing social value delivery plans and understanding of social value methodologies; working with local partners on employment, training, skills, and community engagement programs.
  • Knowledge of Social Value Frameworks (e.g., TOMs/Impact Evaluation Standard) is desirable.
  • Strong analytical, data interpretation, and management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, educated to GCSE level or equivalent, proficient in MS Office.
  • Excellent literacy, communication, networking, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and influence key individuals.
  • Confidence in working with people from various backgrounds.
