Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the assessment of needs and develop outcome-focused Occupational Therapy plans to promote independence and well-being.
  • Empower individuals through a positive approach to risk-taking, utilising a strength-based methodology.
  • Conduct complex assessments in line with Directorate protocols, often coordinating multidisciplinary input.
  • Respond promptly to requests for assessments for equipment and adaptations.
  • Provide functional assessments in community settings and make recommendations for aids to daily living.
  • Ensure all equipment is safely fitted and demonstrated to clients.
  • Utilise your Moving and Handling skills to provide advice and recommend necessary equipment.
  • Review the impact of OT interventions and address carers’ needs through assessments as per Care Act legislation.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapists and other team members, and stand in for managers when required.
  • Use your own vehicle for business purposes, including home assessments and transporting necessary equipment.
  • Participate actively in the Occupational Therapy Duty System.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports according to policy standards.
  • Stay updated on changes in Assistive Technology and Telecare.
  • Participate in training and contribute to the education of OT students.
  • Collaborate with other Adult Social Care staff, providing advice and support.
  • Adhere to the HCPC requirements and Occupational Therapists’ Professional Code of Conduct.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay at the forefront of Occupational Therapy and housing advancements.
