Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Practice Manager to lead our thriving Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Team in one of London's most vibrant boroughs. This is a pivotal leadership role where you will ensure that children at risk of harm receive timely, proportionate, and effective support. You\'ll be managing an enthusiastic and dedicated team of professionals, driving high standards of safeguarding excellence in a borough known for its cultural diversity and community spirit.

What You Will Do
  • Lead and manage the daily operations of the MASH team, ensuring efficient workflows and timely safeguarding decisions
  • Provide reflective supervision, appraisals, and professional guidance to social workers and support staff
  • Allocate, screen, and monitor referrals in line with statutory thresholds and safeguarding protocols
  • Promote collaborative working across partner agencies, strengthening the effectiveness of the MASH function
  • Audit casework, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with statutory guidance
  • Contribute to workforce development, training, and service improvement within the MASH team
Person Specification
  • Qualifications & Registration
  • Recognised Social Work qualification (BA/MA Social Work, DipSW, CQSW)
  • Current registration with Social Work England
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)
  • Substantial post-qualification experience in children's social care
  • Experience within, or alongside, a MASH, safeguarding, or referral & assessment service
  • Proven supervisory/management experience leading social workers or practitioners
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, statutory thresholds, and best practice
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and risk assessment skills
  • Ability to thrive in high-pressure environments with multiple demands
  • Excellent communication and partnership-building abilities
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and child-centred practice
  • Management qualification (ILM/NVQ in Leadership or equivalent)
  • Experience in service development or practice improvement
  • Knowledge of Signs of Safety or other systemic practice models
