A leading education agency is seeking a full-time SEMH Teacher to support secondary students in Preston. The role involves working primarily in a 1 to 1 capacity, focusing on English and Maths, while managing students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. Candidates should have teaching experience and preferably a background in special education needs. This position offers a temp to perm opportunity with a pay rate of £145 - £165 per day.
SEMH Teacher - 1 to 1 / Small Class (Secondary) - Preston
Prospero Teaching is working with a brilliant Secondary Age SEMH provision in Preston who are currently looking for a full time, temp to perm teacher to support a student in developing academically, primarily in English and Maths. QTS is a bonus, but at minimum you must have experience teaching, and knowledge around a secondary curriculum. Experience with SEN (mainly around SEMH, ASD, ADHD) is strongly preferred due to the needs of the students.
This school caters for secondary aged pupils who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Some students on roll also have autism, ADHD, ACES/Trauma & display challenging behaviour. You will be working mostly in a 1 to 1 capacity with individual students, however there may also be small group work involved. Although you will need to prep and mark, your focus will only be on one, or sometimes a small number of students and so the workload is significantly less intense than a standard full-size classroom.
Manage challenging behaviour positively. Ensure lessons are planned to meet the needs of children. Ability to tailor your lessons to the needs of each student. Provide a positive and nurturing environment for children with a range of needs. Motivate, engage and inspire children. A dedication to the safeguarding of young people.
