A veterinary recruitment firm is seeking a full-time Veterinary Surgeon to join their innovative practice near Chester, UK. With a salary around £60,000, the role offers flexibility in working hours and emphasizes a strong team culture. Candidates are encouraged to bring their clinical interests, with a focus on AI-supported technologies for improved patient care. The practice supports professional growth with CPD and a collaborative environment, ensuring work-life balance and job satisfaction.
Are you an experienced Veterinary Surgeon seeking a role within a supportive, forward‑looking practice where you can develop your clinical interests and embrace new technology? This Chester‑based practice is offering a salary of around £60,000 (full‑time equivalent, dependent on experience) and the opportunity to join the team at an exciting point of growth and innovation.
The practice is in the process of introducing new AI‑supported technology designed to streamline workflows and give you more time to focus on patient care. Full support and tailored CPD will be provided to help you make the most of these tools, alongside encouragement for further certificates and professional development. You will be working in a beautifully designed practice with a calm, modern feel and a strong emphasis on work‑life balance.
This position is ideally full time, with working hours between 8:30am and 6:30pm Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings from 9am to 12:30pm on a one‑in‑five rota. There are no out‑of‑hours duties and no Sunday working. Part‑time hours can also be considered, and the team is happy to discuss flexible working arrangements to suit your needs.
The role would suit a Veterinary Surgeon who is confident with routine consultations and surgery. While experience or interest in dentistry, cardiology or laparoscopy would be welcomed, it is not essential. Applications are also encouraged from experienced consult‑only vets or those with other special interests, as the practice values individuality and is keen to support a wide range of clinical passions. An openness to learning and working with AI‑supported systems will be important as the practice continues to evolve.
You will be joining a large, experienced clinical team consisting of seven vets and seven registered veterinary nurses, supported by three receptionists and led by an experienced practice manager. The team has a wide range of clinical interests, offering a collaborative environment where knowledge is shared and professional growth is actively encouraged. The caseload is varied, with a high proportion of insured pets and proactive, engaged clients.
The practice is located on the northern outskirts of Chester, a historic city in the North West of England known for its Roman walls, unique shopping streets and excellent quality of life. Chester offers the best of both city living and surrounding countryside and is conveniently situated within an hour of both Liverpool and Manchester, with good transport links close to the practice.
Day‑to‑day working is carefully structured to support colleague wellbeing and ensure everyone finishes on time. Diaries are tightly managed with dedicated time for calls and paperwork, fully protected lunch breaks and 20‑minute sick pet consultations. Nurses are available throughout the day to assist in consults, and there is excellent nursing cover to allow for a full programme of nurse‑led consultations.
In return, the practice offers a competitive salary of around £60,000 (DOE, FTE), a generous CPD allowance, a contributory pension scheme and paid professional memberships. Beyond the clinical setting, the team places great value on social connection and regularly enjoys activities together outside of work, helping to maintain a positive, inclusive and supportive team culture.
If you are looking for a modern practice that invests in its people, values innovation and encourages you to develop your own clinical interests, this could be an excellent next step in your veterinary career.
