We are seeking experienced Site Managers to oversee the construction and delivery of large-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across the UK. Acting on behalf of the Principal Contractor, you will be responsible for managing all on-site activities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution in line with programme, budget, and client expectations.

This is a critical role in driving the successful delivery of utility-scale renewable energy projects, coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams while maintaining compliance with UK legislation, CDM regulations, and company standards.

Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day site operations as the representative of the Principal Contractor, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and to specification.
  • Oversee subcontractors and direct labour, ensuring compliance with project drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Maintain strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards, carrying out site inductions, toolbox talks, and audits.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and wider delivery team to manage site programmes, progress reporting, and resource planning.
  • Manage site logistics, access, welfare, deliveries, and storage in line with project requirements.
  • Coordinate and chair regular site meetings with subcontractors, consultants, and the client team.
  • Monitor quality assurance processes, ensuring all works are tested, inspected, and documented appropriately.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and act as site lead for all HSE matters.
  • Identify risks, delays, and issues early, escalating and proposing solutions to minimise impact on project delivery.
  • Provide accurate daily site records, progress updates, and reporting to senior management.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients, local stakeholders, and the project team.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven track record as a Site Manager on large-scale renewable energy, power, or civil engineering projects - ideally within Solar PV or BESS at utility scale.
  • Experience working for or on behalf of a Principal Contractor under NEC/JCT contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of CDM regulations, HSE legislation, and industry best practice.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple subcontractors and suppliers in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • Strong technical understanding of civil, electrical, and mechanical packages relevant to renewable energy projects.
  • Proficiency in using project reporting systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • SMSTS certification (essential).
  • First Aid at Work certification (preferred).
  • CSCS card (relevant to management).
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide.
