Job summary

A staffing solutions company is seeking a Site Manager to oversee subcontractors in substation construction projects in the West Midlands. The ideal candidate will have NGED OPS2 certification and several years of experience in high-voltage sectors. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with safety policies, managing site resources, and maintaining quality oversight. The role offers a contract of 6 months with a competitive daily rate of £400 to £450 outside IR35.

Qualifications

Job description

Site Manager (OPS2 NGED)

Contract, 6 months+
£400 to £450 per day outside IR35
Location: Walsall, West Midlands

You will be managing subcontractors in the delivery of substation construction projects ranging from £100,000 to multi‑million pound schemes.

Responsibilities

• Understand the Company Health & Safety and Environmental (SHE) Policies and Processes.
• Manage and direct compliance to CDM regulations on site.
• Lead and motivate a team of Sub‑Contractors to deliver all aspects of planning and operations.
• Maintain accurate records of site resources, materials and plant.
• Produce timely reports.
• Collaborate with customers, clients, local authorities, and other interested parties.
• Provide sufficient and timely supervision, assessment and coaching to ensure sub‑contractors perform to agreed production levels.
• Ensure quality checks are complete.
• Regularly undertake necessary Tool Box Talks, Briefings and other communications.
• Promote best practice, capture it, and ensure it is fed‑back into the business.
• Ensure overall QA/QC process adherence including inspections and test plans.

Qualifications & Experience

• NGED OPS2 (Operational Authorisation 2) certification.
• Several years experience working within the HV sector at 33kV or 132kV works.
• Knowledge of substation equipment from various Original Equipment Manufacturers.
• Knowledge of CDM 2015 (and ideally qualified).
• Competent with Excel, MS Project or Primavera P6.
• Ability to lead and motivate people.
• Commercial awareness to understand effect of site‑based activities on project financial performance.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Full 4‑day First Aid certification.
• SMSTS certification.
