Job description

CK Group are recruiting for a Site Chemist to join a leading Hazardous Waste Management company at their site based near Walsall, on a full-time, permanent basis. The salary is £26,000.

As a Site Chemist, you will be responsible for inspecting and accepting incoming assignments of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, in accordance with relevant regulations and site procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for chemistry graduates with some lab experience to apply their skills in a practical, hands-on environment and develop a career in the environmental sector.

This is a shift-based role, working 40 hours per week. Shifts include morning (6am–3pm), afternoon (2pm–10pm), and night (10pm–6am).

Please note, this role involves working both outdoors (in all weather conditions) and indoors.

Location:

The Site Chemist will be based at the company's site near Walsall and is commutable from Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Stafford and Coventry.

Site Chemist Role:

As a Site Chemist, the main purpose of your role will be:

  • Labelling and processing waste
  • Completing waste safety checks
  • Sampling of received waste for internal laboratory analysis
  • Using SAP system to record waste acceptance
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in Chemistry – essential
  • At least 1 year of laboratory experience – essential (industrial)
  • Willingness to work hands-on, outdoors, in a hazardous chemical environment – essential
