Job summary

A leading aerospace manufacturer in Derby is seeking a Site Chemist to oversee laboratory activities and ensure compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in a chemical treatment environment or a degree in chemical engineering. Responsibilities include managing chemical stock, supporting audits, and contributing to process improvements. Competitive salary up to £35,000 per annum and company benefits including holidays and pension contributions are offered.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee chemical laboratory activities, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Maintain conformance to NADCAP-approved test matrix and conduct testing.
  • Manage chemical stock control and ordering, including safe disposal of chemicals.
  • Support customer audits and prepare for NADCAP audits.
  • Attend quality meetings, update KPIs, and implement improvements.
  • Review and update customer specifications for compliance.

We're working with one of the largest international manufacturers of metallic detailed aerospace parts, and they're looking for a Site Chemist to join their growing team.

Job Description
  • Oversee chemical laboratory activities, ensuring timely completion of tasks
  • Maintain conformance to NADCAP-approved test matrix, including: Salt spray tests, Wet & dry tape adhesion and paint adhesion, Coating weight of anodise/alocrom, Impact testing, Surface roughness, IGA & EGP, Etch rate checks
  • Conduct daily and weekly conformance checks for etch tanks and anodise processes
  • Manage chemical stock control and ordering, including safe disposal of chemicals
  • Support customer audits and NADCAP audits through preparation and active participation
  • Attend quality meetings, update KPIs, and analyze data to identify trends and implement improvements
  • Contribute to cost-saving initiatives and process optimization
  • Review and update customer specifications to ensure compliance
