My client is seeking an experienced Site Agent to support the delivery of a significant highways project in the Didcot region. As Site Agent, you will oversee the day-to-day management of a major section of works, ensuring that construction activities are planned, coordinated and delivered safely and efficiently.
This is a key leadership position on the project, providing an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced civil engineering environment and enjoys leading teams on technically challenging infrastructure schemes.
Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of all site activities within your section of the highways scheme.
Manage and support Section Engineers, Site Engineers, Foremen and subcontractors, ensuring effective daily supervision and clear task allocation.
Take ownership of programme delivery: sequencing works, updating short-term plans, monitoring progress and implementing recovery actions where required.
Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with Health & Safety, environmental and quality standards, driving a proactive safety culture across site.
Review and approve method statements, risk assessments, ITPs and quality documentation.
Act as the primary point of contact for your section, liaising with design teams, client representatives, statutory bodies and senior project leadership.
Oversee financial control for your section, including cost tracking, resource forecasting and supporting commercial teams with change management.
Identify and promote opportunities for innovation, efficiencies and value engineering.
Prepare reports, attend coordination meetings and ensure accurate records and site documentation are maintained.
Proven experience as a Site Agent or strong Sub Agent ready to step up, ideally within highways or major civil infrastructure.
Strong technical knowledge across highways disciplines including earthworks, drainage, structures, utilities and pavement construction.
Demonstrable experience managing multidisciplinary site teams and subcontractors on complex civil engineering schemes.
Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, manage programmes and maintain rigorous standards of quality and safety.
Relevant qualifications in Civil Engineering or Construction (Degree or HNC/HND), with CSCS and SMSTS/SSSTS preferred.
Salary: £65,000 per annum

Site Hours:
Monday–Thursday: 07:30 – 17:30
Friday: Early finish around 16:00
Later start available on Monday (up to approx. 10:00) for those travelling, with hours made up during the week
Candidates should not be travelling more than around 3 hours each way on Monday/Friday
