Overview

Signalling and Telecommunications Technician

Location: Midland Metro Ltd, Wednesbury Depot, Potters Lane, WS10 0AR

Salary: £38,650 - £42,888 per annum (inclusive of on-call allowance), Depending on Experience + Excellent Benefits!

Contract: Permanent, Mon – Thu 07:00 – 15:00, Fri 07:00 – 14:00 – Flexible night working when required

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring inspection and maintenance tasks are completed in a timely manner and in compliance with the planned maintenance schedule
  • Ensuring the work tasks follow the correct procedures
  • Conducting maintenance and repairs to the West Midland Metro signalling and telecommunications equipment
  • Oversight of contractors carrying out planned works on the signalling and telecommunications equipment
  • Assisting in test and commissioning of new systems
  • Switching of electrical substations
  • Involvement may be necessary when external contractors are required to conduct any planned works
  • Continuous assessment and improvement of working practices embracing new technologies
  • Flexibility to respond to emergency situations and unplanned repairs outside of normal working hours
  • On Call duties
  • Night shift work to perform maintenance and repair work as may reasonably be required by MML management
Qualifications
  • A good working knowledge and competence in electrical / mechanical systems
  • Recognised Electrical Qualification at Level 3 or above
  • Experience in the use of computer based diagnostic equipment
  • Demonstrable computer literacy and writing skills
  • The ability to read and understand electrical schematics
  • A full driving license
Desirable
  • City and Guilds 18th Edition
  • City and Guilds Inspection and Periodic Inspection
  • Experience in fibre and data maintenance, repair and installation
