Job description
MAIN PURPOSE

To assist our shop manager in the day to day running of Charity’s shops on Chestergate and Churchill Way in Macclesfield, ensuring efficient and effective management of volunteers, premises and stock to provide a high quality retail service. To ensure that all appropriate standards of security and health and safety are met.

MAIN DUTIES
  1. To maximise shop income.
  2. To ensure the shop premises are clean and tidy at all times and that goods are displayed in an attractive and presentable manner.
  3. To act as keyholder; to open and close the shop for agreed trading hours and ensure that the premises are secure on leaving. To respond to emergency call out if and when necessary.
  4. To liaise with the Shop Manager concerning presentation, volunteers and volunteer rotas.
  5. To recruit, train, support and supervise the work of the volunteers in the charity shop, encouraging an active interest in the shop and the work of Windyway Trust.
  6. To ensure that the shop is adequately staffed at all times and establish appropriate rotas for staff and volunteers.
  7. To generate stock donations, accept, sort, price and display stock in accordance with guidelines.
  8. To take responsibility for stock rotation, including disposal of unsold donations at the best possible return.
  9. To work with the Trustees to: Publicise the charity shop Enhance the image of Windyway Trust Ensure that all queries about Windyway Trust or Windyway Animal Sanctuary are signposted to it’s appropriate office and the information held at the shop is up to date. Maintain good relations with the public, trade councils, landlords, neighbouring parties and volunteers.
  10. To develop a program of themed window displays. To work with the Trustees to incorporate other aspects of the charity' s work at regular intervals in these displays.
  11. To work on the tills and for cashing up at the end of each day.
  12. To identify opportunities for selling online, taking photos and posting on social media eg Facebay.
  13. The job requires liaising with the Windyway drivers, and assisting with the loading and unloading the vans with furniture as required.
  14. To drive between Windyway Trust shops and offices as required.
  15. To discuss regularly with the shop manager on the performance of the shop and it’s volunteers.
  16. To ensure that all Windyway Trust administrative and financial procedures are followed, including banking, cash register reconciliation, weekly returns and volunteer records.
  17. To assist with maximising Windyway Trusts’ fundraising and marketing opportunities.
  18. To work closely with the trustees to ensure that any problems in the shop are resolved quickly and effectively.
  19. To ensure that volunteers are aware of and comply with Windyway Trusts’ Health and Safety Policy. To ensure statutory responsibilities are met concerning Fire Regulations. To report to the Shop Manager any incidents or potential incidents in the Charity Shops’ premises to comply with Windyway Trusts’ Health and Safety Policy.
  20. To ensure that Windyway Trusts’ Equality and Diversity Policy is adhered to.
  21. Any other duties that are consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the post and also to undertake any ad-hoc tasks that may be reasonable for your grade.
OTHER FEATURES OF THE JOB

The post holder will be expected to work 3 days per week as per shop rota, which may include Saturdays and Sundays. Some flexibility in working hours will be required from time to time under the T.O.I.L system. The post holder will be expected to travel for training purposes and occasionally to collect donations and make deliveries using the Windyway Trust Van. The annual leave entitlement for full time staff is 28 days. Annual leave for part time staff is pro-rated.
