A leading train maintenance company in Bristol is looking for a Shift Fitter to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out maintenance activities to high standards within the rail industry, ensuring compliance with safety regulations. You will work on a 4 on, 4 off shift basis, from 20:00 to 06:30. Required qualifications include a minimum level 3 engineering qualification and prior experience in rail vehicle maintenance. Working Hours – Average of 35 hours per week, working 20.00 – 06.30 hrs, 4 on, 4 off shift roster
At Arriva TrainCare we provide high quality overhaul, maintenance and servicing of passenger rolling stock, locomotives, freight wagons and track plant. We operate throughout the UK from six strategic locations – Crewe, Bristol, Eastleigh, Cambridge, Tyne Yard and Scarborough.

Working part of our night shift team you will carry out maintenance activities to laid down standards and procedures.
Carry out work as allocated by the Service Delivery Leader within set timescales and to the recognised standards
Operate (drive) rail vehicles as required, within depot operating limits, and in accordance with all relevant operating procedures
Ensure that safety procedures and documents are adhered to in accordance with VMI & local instruction
Ensure that work sheets are signed off promptly and correctly on completion of work
Attend technical, quality, safety and general briefings ensuring that the necessary action is taken on items raised
Undertake Safety Critical Work Regulations assessments under the guidance of the Service Delivery Leader, taking remedial action where necessary
Use of all PPE in accordance with standards and local instructions
Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
Qualifications – minimum level 3 qualification in Engineering
Experience – previous experience, involvement and understanding of rail vehicle maintenance activities
Knowledge – good understanding of depot operations with the ability to interpret engineering drawings both mechanical and electrical engineering
Safety – strong understanding of applicable health, safety and environmental standards and requirements.
