Job Title: Data Centre Shift Technician
Location: Slough, SL2 5EJ
Contract Type: Permanent - Shift-Based (24/7 Rota)
Salary: Up to £54,590 + Shift Allowance of £3,000 additional + Overtime

ROLE OVERVIEW

Trevett Services are recruiting a Data Centre Shift Technician to support a critical environment site in Slough. Working on a 24/7 shift rota, you will be responsible for the safe operation, planned maintenance, and reactive response of all electrical and associated building services systems.

Reporting to the Shift Manager, you will operate as a Low Voltage Authorised Person (LVAP) and work closely with engineering management and client stakeholders to ensure all maintenance activities are delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with site policies, procedures, and service level agreements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across all building plant, equipment, and systems
  • Respond to Building Management System (BMS) alarms and complete emergency fault rectification
  • Operate as a Low Voltage Authorised Person, ensuring all safety documentation and switching procedures are completed to a high standard
  • Issue, control, and manage Permit to Work systems in line with Safe Systems of Work
  • Create and utilise switching schedules, SOPs, and EOPs in accordance with site procedures
  • Ensure evaporative cooling and domestic water systems are maintained in line with L8 requirements
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and task sheets
  • Prepare, review, and implement RAMS for all in-house and subcontractor works
  • Supervise engineering subcontractors to ensure compliance with site and contractual requirements
  • Maintain a safe, professional working environment and promote a strong safety culture
  • Liaise professionally with clients and internal teams at all levels
  • Support ongoing training, development, and continuous improvement
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Level 3 NVQ in Electrical or associated discipline
  • Current Wiring Regulations (18th Edition - BS7671)
  • Low Voltage Authorised Person (LVAP) or working towards
  • Experience within a Data Centre or Critical Environment
  • Strong understanding of Permit to Work systems and safe systems of work
  • Proven experience in real-time fault and incident management
  • Strong communication and organisational skills

Desirable:

  • Emergency First Aid at Work
  • Manual Handling training
  • PASMA and IPAF
  • Knowledge of integrated systems including Fire, PMS, and BMS
  • Experience supervising subcontractors
