Your mission at LINDAL

Shift Engineer

Work within a team of co-workers who will focus on pro‑active maintenance.

Integral part of a maintenance team providing 24‑hour, 7‑day breakdown services when required at the LINDAL site.

Help with reducing engineering downtime and improve overall productivity.

There will be a requirement to work alone on small tasks, as well as working within a team on larger scale activities with pre‑determined teams.

A self‑driven and motivated individual is required.

Has positive attitude to problem solving.

Quick learner with foundation of engineering work and understand the diverse equipment in use.

The role holder will possess the capability to grow the role, and it is anticipated that sustained successful delivery within this role will lead to further opportunities within the organisation.

Internal and External Relationships / Contacts

The Shift Engineer reports directly to the Moulding & Assembling Engineering Supervisor.

The role has internal contact with all departments on site and Suppliers Contractors and Other Engineering Department.

Your profile

Key Accountabilities:

Safety
  • Working within teams and encouraging correct behaviours
  • Maintaining an up to date knowledge of OHSE legislation and taking the necessary steps to ensure Engineering compliance
  • Completing the necessary risk assessments for each job
  • Challenging co‑workers who are not working safely
  • Promoting the use of the near miss system
  • Carrying out behavioural audits
  • Always working in a safe manner and reporting unsafe conditions
Quality
  • Implementing Engineering initiatives that will drive Quality improvements
  • Supporting Quality improvement programmes
Waste
  • Identifying and implementing Engineering solutions that will minimise Waste production
  • Working closely with Operational teams to support Waste improvement programmes
Engineering Responsibilities
  • Taking a central role of TPM within the engineering team
  • Taking a central role for continuous improvement activities within the engineering team
  • Implementation of engineering work instructions and training documentation as and when required.
  • Continuous improvement of all related production equipment to drive OEE up and above specified targets and to reduce scrap to below specified targets.
  • To ensure PPM/Breakdowns are completed in a timely manner. Notification to be given to the department Manager when scheduled time‑lines may not met with reasons why.
  • Investigation of reoccurring faults and follow up action is essential; the engineer has the responsibility to send equipment back to manufacturers for analysis and repair.
  • To log all major breakdowns per shift on the maintenance fault log / CMM’s system
  • Ensure a high level of health and safety is adhered to at all times leading by example.
  • To communicate with department Managers or deputies and prioritise work loads in times of multiple breakdowns.
People Management
  • Liaise with operational management and workforce regarding engineering maintenance requirements
  • Able to work from planned work sheets and provide adequate information regarding faults / repairs
  • Full and effective feedback to maintenance management regarding work carried out, training needs and early warning of imminent maintenance problems (i.e. provide info required to formulate preventative maintenance plans)
  • Limited interaction with external contractors on specific maintenance tasks
  • A high level of house keeping is required at all times, sufficient time should be allocated at the end of your shift to clean your working area and put all tools away in a professional manner.
Hygiene
  • Complying with 5S activities
  • Challenging non-conformance
Job Specific Technical Requirements
  • Engineering knowledge of Assembly lines;(desirable but not essential)
  • Understanding of Continuous Improvement / Operational Excellence tools and techniques
Operational Excellence/ Continuous Improvements
  • Actively seeking best practice solutions, both from within LINDAL and externally
  • Determination to deliver best in class
  • Promoting Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvements within Engineering across the site
Education and Certifications
  • Time served Industrial Electrician
  • Experience in an Industrial engineering environment
  • ONC minimum
  • Relevant equipment specific training courses, (Plc’s, drives etc)
  • Computer literate • Some regulatory and legislative knowledge, including OHSE

  • Experience of Operational Engineering within a Manufacturing environment; Preferably FMGC
