About this role

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Shift Electrical Engineer to join our dedicated facilities maintenance team at a key commercial site in Salisbury.

In this role, you will be the go-to technical expert on shift, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all electrical and mechanical building services. You will perform a vital function in keeping the site safe, compliant, and fully operational for its occupants.

Your day-to-day work will involve a mix of planned preventative maintenance (PPMs) and fast-paced reactive maintenance, requiring strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting scheduled Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on a wide range of building services.
  • Providing timely and efficient reactive maintenance and fault-finding on electrical systems.
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults on M&E plant, including HVAC systems, Air Handling Units (AHUs), Fan Coil Units (FCUs), emergency lighting, fire alarms, and building controls.
  • Carrying out minor electrical installations and remedial works as required.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with current health and safety regulations and to a high standard.
  • Working closely with the on-site team and specialist subcontractors to resolve complex issues.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all completed maintenance tasks.
Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A recognised electrical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations, or equivalent).
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671) qualification.
  • Proven experience in a commercial maintenance or building services environment.
  • A strong understanding of both electrical and mechanical (M&E) systems.
  • Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work effectively on a shift rota.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to health and safety.
