Job description
Shared Service Centre SCC) - Benefits Specialist Officer – 1 Post (Grade 6 from £31,022 to £33,699)

We have an exciting opportunity to join our high performing Benefits Team at East Staffordshire Borough Council. As we prepare for the imminent launch of a new integrated Revenues & Benefits system, we are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated professional to play a key role in delivering high quality Benefits services to our residents.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with experience in Benefits administration who are looking to further develop their career and contribute to the delivery of a modern, efficient and customer‑focused service. Prior knowledge of the Civica Revenues & Benefits system would also be an advantage but not essential.

This role will provide hands‑on experience in:

  • Processing and assessing Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support claims in line with current legislation and local policy
  • Managing caseloads effectively and meeting statutory deadlines
  • Communicating clearly with customers, colleagues and stakeholders both verbally and in writing
  • Investigating and resolving complex benefit queries and overpayments
  • Using regulations to support accurate decision making and reporting
  • Supporting the implementation of new systems and working methods
  • Contributing to service improvements and helping deliver an efficient, customer‑focused service
  • Demonstrating strong organisational and problem‑solving skills whilst working under pressure.
