About The Role

We are seeking to grow our sessional staff at Telford College. We are looking for staff within their chosen field, who are enthusiastic, skilled and want to come and join our team of extremely dedicated collegues, working in a modern and high-tech learning environment.

As a member of the curriculum team, you will support the delivery of high-quality education to a diverse student body, helping learners achieve their academic and career goals.

We are looking for individuals who passionate about teaching and committed to providing students with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed. The successful candidates will demonstrate a flexible approach to teaching, working with a wide range of learners.

This specific role will assist the department in delivering an outstanding provision to learners on Levels 1 – 5 courses in Early Years & Education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the specific department/team through an enthusiastic, dedicated and pro-active approach, utilising a proven record of innovation and teaching experience.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and sensitivity for the needs of your learners to support their progression and achievement outcomes.
  • Apply differentiated and engaging teaching, learning and assessment strategies to enable learners to achieve their potential.
  • Through a well-organised manner regularly review and monitor learner’s attendance, targets and progress and follow up as required to ensure learners achieve their potential.
  • Monitor learners progress through core duties including initial diagnostic assessments, ILP’s, learner profile contribution, preparation, marking, effective feedback, tracking progress (including ProMonitor), exam preparation and supporting appropriate intervention.
  • Evaluate and assess (formative and summative) the work of learners in relation to the curriculum criteria and provide timely constructive and helpful learner feedback.
  • Maintain quality systems including designing work schemes, lesson plans, assessment plans and assessment activities.
Skills and Expertise
  • Possess a proven record of innovative, engaging and learner centred teaching, learning and assessment practice, which enables all learners to progress
  • Good communication & interpersonal skills at individual and group level
  • Experience of monitoring learners individual progress with a pro-active approach for support and intervention, including differentiated teaching
  • Ability to work as a team member contributing to the development of teaching and learning strategies
  • Ability to work on own initiative and manage varied workloads effectively
Qualifications and Training
  • Possess a teaching qualification, e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE or DTLLs, or a firm commitment to achieve a Diploma in Education and Training (DET) (Desirable)
  • Possess an appropriate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
  • Level 2 qualification (GCSE A* – C, or equivalent) in Maths and English
