Join us as a Service Technician - London & South Area

Responsibilities
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance regimes on portfolio lift/escalator equipment and completing Schindler safety inspections and closure of any open non-conformity to current legislation or standards.
  • Overseeing improvement of equipment condition to improve time between technical call-backs and reduce lift equipment downtime.
  • Carrying out minor repair work and lifecycle replacement of components.
  • Adhering to all company safety and conduct procedures and providing coverage by an on-call rota for out-of-hours calls, maintenance and repairs.
  • Carrying out routine servicing of lift/escalator equipment, including minor repair work and routine replacement of components in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Rectifying and reducing faults on lift/escalator equipment in cases of breakdown and checking to confirm correct functioning.
  • Checking lift/escalator function as part of maintenance, including speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise, temperature and power supplies using approved tooling and PPE.
  • Carrying out routine inspection and adjustment of lift/escalator in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Reinstating lift/escalator and completing service documentation.
  • Carrying out more advanced fault finding and diagnostic procedures and restoring equipment to service using appropriate test equipment.
  • Carrying out site surveys and attending relevant training to maintain up-to-date technical knowledge and skills.
  • Working in line with the Company’s Safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with UK legal requirements and Schindler safety requirements.
  • Maintaining safety systems and contributing to the Company safety objectives where applicable.
What you bring

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in lift/escalator servicing/maintenance/repairs (preferred).
  • NVQ Level 3 minimum in Lift/Escalator maintenance or equivalent.
  • Willingness to work towards Schindler Certification Level 3 Red.
  • Advanced electrical and mechanical knowledge, including multi-brand equipment.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with a flexible approach.
  • Good communication skills at different levels (Client/Service Leader/Inspectors).
  • Manual dexterity for repetitive tasks and use of tools; ability to record written information.
  • Proven fault finding and diagnostic skills and good administration and punctuality.
  • Full UK driving license.
