Job summary

A leading HR consulting firm is seeking a Service Manager to lead a team maintaining Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems in Wales. Responsibilities include overseeing operations management, technical support, and maintaining client relations. Ideal candidates will have a Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, a minimum of 7 years in power systems, and strong leadership skills. Onsite work at various client locations and 24/7 standby for emergencies will be required.

  • Solid experience in industrial UPS, DC systems, fault resolution, and programming.

Job description
Main Function:
  • The Service Manager leads a team maintaining Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, overseeing installations, preventive/corrective maintenance, ensuring uptime, managing customer relations, and upholding safety standards for critical power infrastructure, requiring strong electrical expertise, leadership, and operational planning skills for 24/7 support environments.
The Role:
  • Team Leadership - Manage, train, and guide Field Service Engineers for smooth operations. Ensure 1st level Engineers has the relevant tools and skills. Assign job tasks to Engineers. Be the main point of contact for Field Service Engineers.
  • Operations Management - Oversee preventive & corrective maintenance, resource optimization, and system performance.
  • Technical Oversight - Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME), provide technical support, and resolve complex power system issues (UPS, DC Chargers).
  • Customer & Vendor Relations - Maintain strong relationships with clients and suppliers, managing contracts and ensuring SLA compliance.
  • Safety & Compliance - Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards for power systems.
  • Emergency Response - Coordinate 24/7 standby for critical power system activations and emergencies.
  • Project Management - Oversee UPS project deliverables, from order to commissioning, ensuring timely execution.
What Do You Need to Have?
  • Candidate must possess either a Diploma or a Degree in Electrical Engineering/Electronics Engineering or any related discipline.
  • Incumbent must possess at least 7 years of working experience in power systems, especially UPS AC/DC power.
  • He/she must possess solid working experience in industrial UPS, DC systems, battery tech, fault resolution, and programming (advantage).
  • Candidate must possess strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, planning, and customer service.
  • Typically involves onsite work at various client locations (E.g.: Data centres, industrial sites).
  • Often requires being on standby for 24/7 emergency call outs.
